Civil Engineers Vow to fight Low Quality Constructions
Members of the National Order of Civil Engineers have pledged to support the Cameroon government in fighting against poor constructions in the country that endanger the lives of people and properties. They equally resolved to force other civil engineers who are operatingon their own to join the National Order or face the Law.
Presiding over the opening ceremony last Friday, January 29 at the Yaounde Conference Centre, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works, Hans Nyetam Nyetam, reminded members of the Order that gov’t is counting on them for the qualitative and quantitative building of the nation. Major innovation during this year’s two-day meeting was the organisation of a technical workshop last Friday as a prelude to Saturday’s general assembly.
Prominent among their deliberations were the re-reading of its Law of creation, Law No. 2000/09 of 13 July 2000 and the conditions for the practice of the profession of civil engineer in view of clearly highlighting the missions of the National Order relating to the protection of property and persons in the civil engineering sector, the solidarity fund, reinforcement of the Observatory Project in view of putting in place a Civil Engineering Observatory whose structures were redefined and updating of NOCE website etc.
