GUINNESS CAMEROON Launches Windhoek Lager
Guinness Cameroon S.A. has officially launched in the Cameroonian market Windhoek Lager, the first and only 100 percent pure beer. The launching dubbed “Consumers Launch” took place during a press conference last Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.
Dedicated to bringing the very best product to Cameroon, Guinness Cameroon S.A. has chosen a high-quality beer that is ideal for discerning Cameroonian. In a chat with the press, Steve Gannon, Guinness Cameroon’s Managing Director, proudly explained that “Windhoek Lager is a high-quality beer for the discerning Cameroonian, who never compromises on quality, taste or enjoyment”.
The beer which is brewed using only malted barley, hops and water was officially tasted by the Master Brewer himself, Christian MÜLLER. He did it with a lot of passion which he shared with the pressmen who wanted to know more about the new product. Highly convinced by the blond colour and the unique taste of Windhoek Lager, presented in modern green 33 cl packaging, the journalists toasted with relish the success of the new beer. They enjoyed it and said “prost”, meaning Windhoek Lager is of high quality.
After the toast, the Managing Director of Guinness Cameroon S.A. strongly recommended Windhoek Lager to the consumers. Speaking during the press briefing, Norbert Eloundou, the Corporate Director of Guinness Cameroon S.A., who is convinced this very latest beer will soon become first in the market, said Windhoek is different. “It’s a high-quality beer which is made for a specific public. Brewed in Namibia, Southern Africa, under the Reinheitsgebot purity law, it is made from only the finest natural ingredients and is completely free from artificial additives or preservatives”, he hinted the press.
During the second part of the launching at the Hilton’s Bouma hall, hundreds of specific consumers, who will never compromise on quality, taste or enjoyment, all raised their glasses together with the Master Brewer and Guinness Cameroon staff as a sign of approval of the fantastic taste of the beer full of purity.
Enjoying the very high-quality beer, the guests who came in their numbers all viewed on giant screens a film retracing the history of the German beer. Reading the German Emperor’s decree related to the making of beer in Germany in the 16th century, the managing team of Guinness Cameroon S.A and Windhoek Lager’s Master Brewer all put on their traditional German attire. The brand girls were not left out. The very original dressing however was aimed at bringing out the rich German tradition that characterised northern Bavaria in 1516, in Germany, and where the malted barley and hops are sourced.
Imported to the country today Guinness Cameroon S.A., Cameroon is the first country in West Africa outside South Africa and Namibia to market this brand.According to Christopher Nde, the Commercial Director of Guinness Cameroon, Windhoek Lager will be sold at FCFA 600 and was expected to be available in the local market since last week.
For it to be effectively present in high-quality bars over the coming months in both Douala and Yaounde, specific strategies have already been deployed. “Windhoek Lager will be supported with dedicated advertising and POS materials beginning next week”, Mrs Marie-Madeleine, the Brand Manager Lager, said.
Talking during the Consumers launch, the Master Brewer, Christian Muller, indicated that Windhoek Lager is a drink of honesty, passion, purity and determination. Honesty and passion because Windhoek is a true expression of character, exemplified by the character of its pioneers and their beloved Namibia and crafted through a spirit of adventure. It is brewed by German master-brewers to the original Reinheitsgebot , a special law created by the German Emperor Duke Wilhem IV which says beer should be created using only three ingredients: malted barleys, hops and water.
With only 4 percent alcohol, Windhoek Lager is highly recommended by Guinness Cameroon S.A to the discerning Cameroonians. This recommendation was largely accepted by the guests who also enjoyed the good music played during the occasion while eating the very delicious food that was served and drinking Windhoek Lager, the first and only 100 percent pure beer.
