ELECAM TO ISSUE REGISTRATION RECEIPTS
Against the backdrop of generalised voter apathy witnessed in preceding elections, Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, has taken a step towards boosting voter confidence ahead of the commencement of voter registration on August 15. An official of the organ charged with the organisation and management of elections and referenda, has told The SUN (see interview on page 6), that those registering shall be issued receipts pending the distribution of voters’ cards. Why I Attended Diaspora Meeting – Ndam Njoya
The National Chairman of the Cameroon Democratic Union, CDU, and Mayor of Foumban, Adamou Ndam Njoya, has been explaining why he went to the US to attend the meeting organised by the Cameroon Diapora Convention for Change (CAMDIAC), the same one late Pius Njawe attended before his tragic death. In a press conference in Douala last Wednesday August 4, Adamou Ndam Njoya delcared that he went to the meeting because he is convinced that "one can do something good with our fellow countrymen of the diaspora". Not convinced, the media men asked him why a meeting out of the country to debate on the problems of Cameroon at a time there are voices that are against such an approach. Reacting, Ndam Njoya invited all those who say the problems concerning Cameroon should not be discussed out of the country to re-examine their reasoning. He said, he believes that there are, "within the Cameroon diaspora, sons and daughters of this great nation who are very competent with whom one must and should discuss things related to Cameroon".
